I have started another new scarf that is for a teenager. It is in a solid navy blue, with a simple pattern that a boy wouldn’t mind wearing. It does get cold here, in Las Vegas, Nv., so I know it could be used, but will it be? Maybe, and if he doesn’t, maybe someone else in his family would like it. Here is a picture of the beginning project. I will be posting other pictures of this project, so that you can actually see the pattern. Have a great day!
Hello everyone, I hope that your day will be great, and of course we are all getting ready for Thanksgiving, as I’ve just printed out a receipe for my stuffing for the turkey that I’m thawing, and will be ready to cook everything on the day. I am giving thanks this year to everyone in my life who has helped me get to this point, and to this website that has helped me express myself in what I’m trying to create with my quilts and knitting and crocheting and to try and let you all see if you like an idea for your own use. I like doing this, as it keeps me busy, and I get to try out new designs, and new ways of quilting, knitting and crocheting. Most of what I do is simple , but it’s the way I enhance it with the quilting, and the type of patterns used for that and also for the knitting and crocheting. Here is a simple pattern for a scarf. Using size 8 needles, I cast on 18 stitches, knit the whole right side for 4 rows, then on the wrong side which should be row 5, knit 2, pearl all the way across, knit 2. Right side knit all the way across, and do the wrong side the same as above. do this until you get the length that you want, then to end it, knit 3 rows starting on the right side, and bind off on the 4th row. Bury the threads, wash and dry flat with straight pins to keep the edges from curling, while drying. Then you’re done. This pattern can be adjusted to any size width or length that you want, to accomodate the person you’re doing it for, It’s even ok to use differnt size needles and make it bulky or fine. You can do this all in one day or spend a few hours a night for a week, to finish it. Here is what the pattern should look like. I like using multicolored yarn, as it gives more of a color choice to wear with what you might have in your closet. Thanks for looking and have a great thanksgiving!
Hi everyone, well it’s been raining for 3 days, and today it’s not, and there is some sun. It’s in the 40′s, not quite cold enough for snow. How I wish! I’ve started 3 more knitting projects, and I added some things to the cowboy quilt. On the cowboy quilt, I quilted in the letters and the blue star, then did a top stitch on the border, and on the edge of the border I put a star motif, It looks great. On the child’s scarf, I’m crocheting a single crochet border, and I want to do a lace border but I’m not sure that I have enough yarn for the whole thing, so I’ll just have to wait and see. Here are a couple of pictures of the scarf, with the border just started. while the yarn is a little different color, it still has some of the same colors as the original, in it. If I can’t do the ruffle around the edge I will do another sc around the edge. I think I will like it, for another one of my rommies nieces, and then I’m making one for my roomies nephew, all dark blue, it’s sort of the color of his football uniform. I’m also doing a purple scarf for another one of the little girls, I’m trying to do all the knitting before I go to sleep at night, instead of reading a book, and do the quilting during the day. So much to do, so little time, but I love it all! Have a great day, and have a happy thanksgiving!
Hey everyone, hope that you are all warm and happy. It’s now cool enough outside to only keep my door and windows open for a small amout of time to let in the fresh air, which always smells good. It’s still sunny and bright out, so we don’t have the rain or snow yet. I’m pretty sure we will get some snow in town somewhere this year, if not I will be dissapointed.
I have finished the cowboy quilt, but can’t post the pics, as all the ones I took have to many mb to post. I will just say that the binding is grey, with a grey label that has all the quilting information on it. I’m also going to go back and quilt in the letters with white thread on the top and blue on the bottom, plus the small blue star with blue on the top and blue on the bottom.. I will also add some stitching to the front border with a small star stitch in grey, all around the front of the quilt, just to add that small touch of difference to it. DONE! Thanks for looking, have a great day!
Hi everyone, well it’s really getting colder here, so the heater is coming on a little more often, and the heavier sweaters are coming out. I really hope that we have snow this year in town, how pretty that would look. Speaking of sweaters, and knit anything, I’ve made another block for the afgan, and wanted to show you my idea of what it will look like when I start putting them together, and I can rearrange them till I get the look that I like. The blocks will not all be the same, as the wider line will be in different rows on the blocks so that the a afgan will look totally different, and have a little character to it. I know it will be cute! Here’s a pic of 2 blocks together.
Hi all! Well the days are getting colder, and we have a greater need for quilts. It’s in the 40′s at night and in the 60′s during the day or colder. I now have the heater on. While we still have sunshine, I think that the closer we get to xmas, the colder it will be getting. Viva, Las Vegas!
I have now quilted the largest part of the cowboy quilt, and just have little bit to go. I have the binding all cut out ready for me to sew together and just have to make a label, to add to the back, and sew the binding on, and I’m done. This has been a great quilt to do, from making the appliques, to all the quilting. If I do any more team quilts, I will probably have to order the logos from the team websites, or buy a t-shirt with the logo on it, or I may be able to do an iron on transfer, but we’ll just have to see. So here are the pictures I have up to this point, with some of the quilting done, and all the appliques done.
Hello everyone! Today I called my friend, who has cancer, and we had a great conversation, and laughed like heck. She thanked me for bringing a little sunshine into her day. Now that makes me feel really good, and am glad that I could brighten her day. It’s a great day weatherwise too, started out a little cool at 59, and going up to 80, the door is open and the air smells good.
I started a new project for knitting, as I already had this project in mind and also had purchased the yarn for it. This project will be knitting both sides. I started out with knitting 6 rows, then on the right side I started two rows with a new yarn on the 7th row. I did that pattern 5 times, and then did 4 rows of the add-on color, which is pink, and the starting color is grey. I can adjust the 4 rows and put them at different places, so that it will have a different look for every square, or every odd square. I haven’t decided which way I want to do it yet, as I’ll make a drawing to see which pattern I like the best. Have a great day!
nice day outside, finally got all the applique for the cowboy quilt done. It looks pretty good. I used the blanket stitch, in blue, because it looked better in the grey. Now I have to make the sandwhich, then bury the threads from the applique stitching, after that I can start quilting. I will do the blue area first and then the grey. I will use the blue thread on the blue and the grey on the grey. I think I will outline the stars and the letter appliques so that there are no blank spots on the back. I can hardly wait for this one to be done. Hopefully I can download the pictures.
Hey, hope everyone is happy and healthy, It’s a great day in the neighborhood, and things are moving on well. I have everything ready to sew for the cowboy quilt, and after I get that done, I will post the finished quilt, so that everyone can see what it looks like.
This zebra fabric will be the next one to do. I love all the colors in this one, and it will be only zebra fabric on the front along with a couple of borders. So I have a yellow fabric, a blue fabric for a border and backing, and also looking at a green, red or black for another border. I just have to decide whether to use more than one border or not, It will just be a matter of what looks best. I will then decide what kind of quilting to use on it. I’m sorry I can’t show you a picture, as I’m having problems with my computer right now. I’ll try and get one loaded asap. Thanks, have a great day.
